1st Emmbrook Scout Group
Adventure for Emmbrook’s young people – 1st Emmbrook Scout Group enables young people to explore their world.
Welcome to our new Beaver Colony!
1st Emmbrook Scout Group is opening a new Beaver Colony this spring (April 2015). The new unit will take more children off the waiting list and mean even more children in the Emmbrook area can experience the excitement of scouting. It is hoped that leaders can be found to open a new Cub Pack in September and then Scouts in January 2016 to complete the expansion.
1st Emmbrook Scout Group joins easyfundraising.org.uk
Easyfundraising.org.uk is a FREE fundraising service to the Scout Group. You can choose from over 2,000 of the UK’s best-known on-line retailers such as Amazon, M&S, Argos, John Lewis etc. When you shop on-line make sure you use the easyfundraising link and the Scout Group can get up to 15% cash back on every purchase you make. There is no additional cost to you!
1st Emmbrook Scout Group needs to raise £4,000 per year to operate
The Group needs to raise £4,000 per year to maintain and insure the Headquarters, buy new equipment and cover transport costs. Subs (currently £35 per term per child) only cover 9% of these costs, the rest goes towards capitation fees to the Scout Association and the running costs of the Group. The majority of the Group’s income comes from Gift Aid declarations and Fund-Raising.
The Group is managed by the Group Executive Committee, known as GREX. GREX is run by Parents and Supporters and not Section Leaders. If you would like to take part in the management of the Group or help with fund-raising please contact one of the Section Leaders who will put you in touch with a member of GREX. GREX meets only 11 times a year and without your active support the sections could not run.
1st Emmbrook Scout Group runs 4 main fund-raising activities each year:
- * Winter Carnival Mulled Wine & Mince Pies
- * Spring Cycle Race Drink Stop
- * Summer BBQ
The Group needs parental support at these events to ensure we raise sufficient funds each year.
